what is a zine?
A zine (pronounced ‘zeen’) is a mini-magazine and sometimes
larger d-i-y publication containing information, entertainment, arts, and more. It can be quickly made using a few folds of paper, one pair of scissors, and a pen or marker, OR more time spent perfect-binding, saddle stitiching, or any other method of book-binding.
The possibilities are
endless! What goes into a zine is up to you!
Are you passionate about succulents and how to take care of them? Plant it in a zine!
Do you love cooking and want to share recipes with others? Bake that into a zine!
What about art or comics? Those can be drawn into zines, too!

Wow! We’re holding our First Ever Annual Zine Festival in Oxford, NC! The event will be on Saturday November 14th, 2026 at the Thornton Library (210 Main St. Oxford, NC). The event will be FREE to all to attend and FREE to exhibit!
